Lidded Wedgwood Teal Jasperware Box, Cherubs in the Garden

$89.00

Josiah Wedgwood (1730–95) was a Staffordshire potter who established an international reputation for British ceramics. A tireless innovator, he perfected a cream-coloured earthenware known as 'creamware' as well as developing a new coloured unglazed body 'jasper'.

4 1/2 x 3 3/8 x 2 3/8 - inches, this teal-colored domed jasper piece is in excellent condition. Taken from Greek mythology, a motif of Three Cherubs play in the beautiful butterfly filled garden. A traditional cream foliate border is found on the rim. The Wedgwood Made in England trademark is stamped on the back along lovingly with Kitty 2-05.
