Flow Blue Ring Dish

$30.00

England. Assorted cobalt blue ring dishes, trinket dishes range in diameter from 3 - inches to 3 1/4 - inches with scalloped edges. Markings vary such as the W.H. Grindley Osborne pattern, as well as gold painted edgs.

Pure cobalt does not occur on Earth, although cobalt-bearing minerals are common globally. Cobalt is often mined as a byproduct of nickel and copper. Cobalt is largely mined in Kinshasa (the Congo), but also in several other countries including China, Russia, and Canada.

Some loss of gold is evident on the edges, although not all are edged in gold. Otherwise condition is very good, consistent with age.

[Grindley Pottery was founded in 1880 as W H Grindley by William Harry Grindley. Originally it was formed as a partnership with Alfred Meakin at the Newfield Pottery site, but in 1884 they parted ways and Grindley continued alone. In 1891 the pottery was relocated to the Woodland Pottery.]
